What do men and women want?
For all our differences, men and women want the same thing: satisfying, loving relationships. How can you experience a lifetime of fulfillment and intimacy in your marriage? By learning habits that meet the most important emotional needs of yourself and your spouse. What are those habits? Noted author and psychologist Dr. Willard Harley, Jr., in his book His Needs Her Needs, identifies women’s top five emotional needs as: 1) Affection 2) Conversation 3) Honesty & Openness 4) Financial Support and 5) Family Commitment. Dr. Harley identifies men’s top five emotional needs as: 1) Sexual Fulfillment 2) Recreational Companionship 3) An Attractive Spouse 4) Domestic Support and 5) Admiration. While Dr. Harley’s findings represent the general emotional needs of men and women, please understand each individual need might vary. In 1995, Family Dynamics began teaching its first interactive course called “Dynamic Marriage” based, in essence, on helping spouses identify their top emotional needs, as well as the behaviors each spouse exhibits that damage their marriage relationship. This was followed by two equally effective courses: “Dynamic Love,” a follow up class to Dynamic Marriage and “Dynamic Families,” a class to help the entire family develop the close bonds that can last a lifetime. These powerful courses help committed couples develop and sustain happy, fulfilling relationships, enabling them to grow stronger each year while bringing hope and healing to troubled marriages. Family Dynamics’ Approach Family Dynamics’ educational and entertaining 8–week course changes lives. Dynamic Marriage produces tangible results because it gives couples time to learn to stop damaging behaviors in their marriage, deal with conflict, learn to meet each other’s emotional needs, and create new marital habits.
